The existing coating system in a large section of this cooling tower water return pipe was severely compromised and was threatening the underlying substrate. Composite Industrial Group, Inc. removed the existing coating system by abrasive blasting and applied two (2) coats of 100% solids epoxy for a total film thickness of 16-32 mils.
This project benefited from our experience in applying high solids coatings in all conditions. This application took place during the winter and the ambient temperatures would not have been favorable for applying a successful coating system. Composite Industrial Group, Inc. utilized a large scale dehumidification and heated air system to promote better environmental conditions for the coating system and in turn for our employees installing the coating. This air quality improvement allowed the coating system to be applied in seemingly unfavorable conditions with minimal downtime.
